This insidious practice of invading your home at the
most inappropriate times has to end!
I have 3 children in school, elderly parents, and my
wife works outside the home. When the phone rings, I have to answer. It
could be a distress call from them, or even a welcome call from a friend.
The problem is, that more often than not, it is a
telemarketer. Those pesky people trying to sell me aluminum siding, more
credit cards, and things I don't need or would get on my own when ready.
Who pays for your phone?
I consider telemarketing an invasion of my privacy in
my home and the utilization of services and equipment that I pay for. I am
not compensated for the use of the equipment and the service, or, even more
important, for my time and inconvenience. The person on the other side of
the connection is getting paid. I am not.
It's all in the timing...
Sometimes I work odd hours and sleep in the morning. I
can not get any rest with the constant bombardment of solicitation phone
calls. I have come out of the shower, all wet, to answer the phone thinking
that a family member may be in distress. Surprise! It's another phone
solicitor!
This needs to end. Please ask you Congressman,
Senators, and State Legislators to outlaw this insidious practice which
keeps many of us from enjoying our life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness.
I realize that telemarketing provides employment for
many people. So does the tobacco industry and other concerns whose
contributions to payrolls and taxes do not compensate for the harm caused by
their products or services.
Start by signing this petition and getting all of your
friends and relatives to do the same.
